Texan Mexican Burgers, oh my!

SO.. my first meal. Starts out with a trip to HEB. What is HEB you foreigners might ask? First off it is not pronounced heeeb! (seriously I had someone ask for directions to the "heeeeb" once)  It is H.... E... B for Henry Edward Butt, president of one of the most awesome grocery stores. It is here I begin shopping for my dinner. I run into a little EVOO. Ouch pricey! However for the sake of this blog I buy. Gooooo EVOO. ;)

Rach loves doing burgers so I decided my first meal would be a nice juicy hamburger. After looking through recipe after recipe, I could take and twist, I gave up. Instead I made an executive decision and decide to take a mix of all of them and make my own. So I present to you...

TEXAN MEXICAN CHEESE STUFFED TURKEY BURGERS!! ( here are some of hers I based this masterpiece  Buffalo Turkey Burgers , and Long Boy Tex Mex Burgers )

These turkey burgers were delish. They were topped with fresh mango salsa and fried avocado, yumo! Also for those watching their friendly figure this meal is extremely healthy. ;)  I had my best friend Toni to join me as a witness, and my personal assistant. ( thank you soooo much my dear )

here goes!

INGREDIDENTS:

Ground Turkey
1 jalepeno
Garlic
Poultry Seasoning
Colby Jack Cheese
Red Onion
Tomatoes
Mango
Avocado
Cilantro
Lime
Panko
1 Egg
Sour Cream
Wheat buns

Preparation: Begin with making your mango salsa. Mix together chopped mango, red onion, cilantro, and tomatoes. Finish with some lime and salt. Next begin getting your patties ready. Mix together 1lb of ground turkey, chopped garic, jalepeno, and cheese cubes. Season with salt, poultry seasoning, cumin, salt, and pepper. Drizzle some EVOO on a pan and start a cookin. While the burgers are cooking, start frying your sliced avocado dipped in egg and panko. When everything is done start topping and enjoy! Don't forget the sour cream. Toni and I even added some blue corn torillas crunched on top. HIGHLY recommend.

My favorite person in the world, my Opa once said, "Never cook with out a glass of wine in hand." Wise man.

Mango Salsa. If you have a pup make sure to share some of the mangos. My Izzy was so happy last night.

Toni made some SPICY sweet potatoe fries :)

Of course.. Over the shoulder for luck!

YUMO... It was a great meal and meant a lot to me having my best friend there. My love for cooking began with her. Her dad used to own a resturant with the BEST chicken fried steaks. I don't believe a better fried piece of heaven exist! It was there every day after school we would sit in the back and take turns pretending we were on a cooking show. Oh the imagination of kids!

It starts here

Welcome to my crazy blog inspired by the great Rachael Ray.

Almost a year ago I was here, Rachael Ray SXSW Feedback party . It was there that I met Rachael for the first time. I moved to Austin, TX October 2009 and this event was definitely a highlight of my living in the best city ever.Blogging has always been a challenge because I am not the best writer, but I am going to brave my insecurities, and take the dare.

This blog is going to be me taking some Rachael Ray recipes and adding a little Krystal Kay. I love cooking and I have always joked that one day I will own my cookbook and be on rach's show. (HUGE dreams... i know) BUT HEY don't laugh because I've heard people who don't have dreams don't have much. So stay tuned.... with SXSW 2011 coming up again, and me going to New York the end of April, this blog might just turn into so much more.
